The Financial Services Department provides a broad range of accounting services and support to all County Departments, employees, Council and Committees so that they can achieve their mandate and objectives. The key responsibilities of various staff within the Financial Services Department include: processing accounts payable/receivable, processing payroll, maintaining the SDG-wide network, IT programming, preparing annual budgets, completing financial reports, analyzing financial impacts, ensuring strong internal controls, maintaining legislated accounting practices, etc.

The Financial Services Department has three divisions:

Treasury Division

The Treasury Division is responsible for the accounting functions of the corporation, including revenue collection, invoice payment, banking, budgeting, financial reporting, as well as providing Council with financial analysis and recommendations.   

Payroll Division

The Payroll Division supports every level of the organization by processing payroll, as well as assisting with many aspects of recruitment, labour relations, job evaluations, training, compensation and benefits. Employment opportunities and job postings can be viewed on our Careers page.

IT Division

In order to achieve efficiencies and significant cost savings, SDG Counties developed a computer network in 2005 and shares the network, including accounting and mapping software, with the local municipalities in SDG. The IT Division maintains the SDG-wide network, ensuring a modern and secure environment, as well as providing IT support to all County Departments and local municipalities. Data management and customized programming is also developed in-house for County and local municipalities.
