Planning Department

The County Official Plan was adopted by County Council on July 18, 2005 and was later approved with Modifications by the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing on August 18, 2006. The Official Plan provides the land use planning policy framework for planning decisions in the County and the Townships. The County is now the approval authority for local municipal Official Plan amendments, while the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing is the approval authority for County Official Plan amendments. The County has requested the Ministry to exempt the County from Ministry approval of Official Plan amendments and expects to be granted exemption in the near future.
