THE COUNTIES, Ontario - The United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry will fly a Ukrainian flag at its administration building in Cornwall, and has added Ukrainian flags to some of its social media profiles.
Warden Carma Williams, citing the Counties' support for the struggle of the Ukrainian people, said this symbolic gesture is a small way of expressing our solidarity with Ukrainians in Europe, and here at home.
"We will always stand up for free, democratically-elected countries around the world," said Williams. "On behalf of County Council I wish to acknowledge the respect and admiration we have for the Ukrainian people in this, their hour of need. We also wish to add our voices to those from around the world who condemn the attack being perpetrated against the heroic people of Ukraine."
The flag is expected to be raised at the County building imminently.
