Distribution & Warehousing

Central Location

SDG places business in the middle of Canada’s busiest trade corridor including:

  • Canadian highways 401 and 416
  • US highways 89, 91 and 93
  • The CNR and CPR main line
  • The St. Lawrence Seaway
  • 2 international airports

Existing Infrastructure

Regional companies offer secure and sophisticated warehousing and logistics. SDG’s transportation, distribution and warehousing industry is one of the region’s largest sectors.

Montreal and Ottawa are an average 1.5 hour drive from anywhere in SDG. In fact, half of the U.S. market population is within an 8-hour drive of SDG.

Villeneuve Tank Lines

"The region has definitely helped support our growth," says George Villeneuve, president of Villeneuve Tank Lines. He cites location, a well-trained workforce, and local support services as the keys to his company's success. "Many of the local businesses have grown to the point where they now export out of the region. It just makes sense for us to grow here!"

Supply Chain Management

When SCM was researching the most profitable solution for distributing to Wal-Mart stores in Eastern Canada, they selected the city of Cornwall, located in the center of SDG. "The decision was a tactical one," says general manager Pierre Corbeil. Their million-square foot distribution centre is designed with state-of-the-art logistics and offers an ideal combination of proximity to suppliers and markets.
