The towns and villages of SDG are active and welcoming communities.
Each local municipality maintains arenas, ball parks and other play areas. The St. Lawrence River is a vast recreational playground. Sailors and boaters have access to riverside restaurants, full-service marinas, and excellent fishing for perch, walleye, and small and large mouth bass.
Off the water, SDG is a cyclist’s paradise. The St. Lawrence Recreational Trail follows over 75 km of shoreline stretching from Lancaster to Morrisburg and beyond. North of the river the roads are quiet and well-kept, winding past rolling farmland and Victorian villages.
Golfers rejoice! More than 10 courses offer challenge and more, from the rolling hills of the Glengarry Golf and Country Club to scenic waterfront of the Upper Canada Golf Course.
Agri-tourism is growing in SDG, with a number of farms offering U-pick, petting zoos, haunted wagon rides, and more.
