THE COUNTIES, Ontario - The United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry and the SDG Library Board are pleased to announce that Rebecca Luck has been named the new Director of Library Services.
Following a comprehensive recruitment process, Luck was chosen to lead staff at the SDG Library with a focus on developing new synergies the library can explore with its partners, staff and clients.
Margaret MacDonald, chair of the SDG Library Board, indicated Luck’s passion for ensuring library staff and patrons are priorities speaks well of her plans to spotlight engagement as she transitions into this new role.
“Our board welcomes Rebecca to our library team,” said MacDonald. “Her energy, positivity and focus on the provision of library services will be a great benefit to our outstanding library staff and patrons.”
Luck, who makes her home in Glengarry, said she is looking forward to the challenges of her new role with the SDG Library.
“I am very excited to join the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry and be part of the Library Services team,” she said.
In 2012 Luck graduated from McGill University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, and later received a bachelor’s degree in teaching from Lakehead University. Luck spent time living and working in the GTA, and teaching in the United Kingdom, before returning home to Glengarry.
She will assume her new role effective June 26.
Luck succeeds Karen Franklin, the current Director of Library Services, who is set to retire this summer following 15 years with the SDG Library, including 11 as director.
