THE COUNTIES, Ontario – Tourism season in SDG Counties is as shiny and bright as the spring sun!

With clear skies (we hope), trees blooming and warm temperatures from Morrisburg to Alexandria, SDG Tourism is pleased to announce that as we transition into the 2024 tourism season in our region there is some exciting news to share.

2024 TOURISM AMBASSADORS

Visitors and staycationers can count on the SDG tourism ambassadors to help them with everything from finding the most picturesque cycling route in SDG Counties, to enjoying the historic SDG Jail.

Isabel Ariagno, Olivia Chafe, Andrew Baggs, Connor Watson and Lindsay Winters are the new Cycling Tourism Ambassadors employed this summer by SDG Counties. Their main duties will include providing tours at the SDG Jail, patrolling the waterfront trail and providing mobile visitor services experiences, responding to inquiries, and promoting the SDG region.

In the past our ambassadors have even helped a cyclists change a deflated tire.

“Our cycling trails are the envy of many communities across Ontario,” said Karina Belanger, SDG Counties tourism coordinator. “Our students have completed their training and will be spending much of their time interacting with visitors and cyclists to showcase amenities in and around SDG Counties.”

Ariagno is at the University of Guelph, majoring in European studies, Chafe is a double major in English and cultural studies and philosophy at McMaster (Hamilton), Watson is a welding and fabrication student at St. Lawrence College (Cornwall), Winters is studying global and international studies at Carleton (Ottawa) and Baggs is a business marketing and sales students at Loyalist College (Belleville).

The students are looking forward to the balance of the summer and helping individuals visiting SDG Counties or enjoying some time close to home. If you see them on the trails, or attending tourism events in our region, give them a wave!
