Planning Services maintain and update the County Official Plan in consultation with local Municipalities. The Official Plan ensures effective management of growth and development within SDG through a broad policy framework.
Planning services provides:
- Approvals for plans of subdivision, severances, and Official Plan amendments
- Planning advice to the CAO and County Council
- Resources, support, and information to local municipalities and the public

United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Zoning By-Laws Review: A review was completed in 2023 of all local zoning by-laws to make recommendations for updating these by-laws and help ensure that they are consistent with the County Official Plan, Provincial Policy Statement, and current best practices.
