SDG COUNTIES, Ontario - Work is expected to begin by mid-May on a $1.42-million rehabilitation of the Martintown Bridge.
The rehabilitation project, which is expected to wrap up by the end of September, includes miscellaneous concrete repairs, a railing replacement, and conversion of the joints to eliminate the need for rubber seals.
While there will be an impact to traffic in Martintown, through its contractor SDG Counties is committed to ensuring a safe work site is created that will still allow the transit of vehicles and pedestrians.
One lane of the bridge will remain open to the public at all times during the rehabilitation project. A new galvanized railing will be added to the bridge, closely matching the design (but not the colour) of the image attached to this web posting.
There will be some minor impacts to adjacent property owners until the completion of the rehabilitation (construction noise, increased traffic, narrow lanes and tighter turns). All of these short-term impacts are necessary to complete the project, ensuring the bridge remains a safe structure for the next 30 years.
